ITINERARY PREVIEW (BY DAY)

Day 1 – Road shuttle and canoeing from Albert Creek to Five Mile Lake

8.7 km 3 hours

ALBERT CREEK | SASEGINAGA RIVER | FIVE MILE LAKE - The adventure begins on Albert Creek as you familiarize yourself with different paddle strokes before joining the Saseginaga River, where you glide into a beautiful invigorating forest. A short first portage lets you stretch your legs while admiring cascading water flowing over the terrain. At the end of the day, you reach Five Mile Lake, surrounded by rounded hills covered in magnificent forests. At the mouth of the lake, if luck is on your side, you may spot a beaver. An island welcomes you for a well-deserved rest.

Day 2 – Five Mile Lake to Lake Ostaboningue

16.2 km 6 hours

FIVE MILE LAKE | SASEGINAGA RIVER | LAKE OSTABONINGUE - Several paddle strokes across the long and narrow stretch of water on Five Mile Lake bring you back to the Saseginaga River. A first portage with a bridge offers a splendid view of water cascading down the terrain in multiple falls. You continue your journey enjoying the privilege of gliding through this cushioned forest along a narrow river. A second short portage and a small stretch of whitewater enhance your day’s route. After leaving the river’s meanders behind, a vast sandy beach becomes your end-of-day refuge on the shores of the magnificent Lake Ostaboningue, a favourite regional spot for observing breathtaking sunsets.

Day 3 – Crossing Lake Ostaboningue from East to West

5.2 km 2 hours
LAKE OSTABONINGUE - At sunrise, barefoot, you enjoy a walk along the long beach before returning to your canoe. Moved by the experience, you savour your final paddle strokes across one of the region’s beautiful expansive waterways before reaching the boat launch that marks the end of your adventure on this land of exploration.
