Terms and conditions

The customer's booking for an activity, training, road shuttle service, equipment rental constitutes a contract by which he/she accepts the terms and conditions set forth herein, including completing the risk acceptance form when it concerns a package or training.

PAYMENT METHODS

At the time of booking online, by phone or in person, the customer must pay 100% of the booking cost.
All prices may be subject to taxes (GST 5% and QST 9.975%).
A valid credit card is required to make a reservation online, by phone or in person.

MODIFICATION AND CANCELLATION POLICY

For any changes or cancellations to a reservation, please contact the Sales and Reservations Department of the Coop de l'Arrière-Pays at 819-629-9448. An advisor will process your request according to the applicable procedures.

CANCELATION
  • 31 DAYS OR MORE PRIOR TO YOUR BOOKING DATE
  • 100% refund of the amount paid.
  • 16 TO 30 DAYS BEFORE YOUR BOOKING DATE
  • 70% refund of the amount paid (30% non-refundable).
  • 15 DAYS OR LESS BEFORE YOUR BOOKING DATE
  • No refunds for the reservation under any circumstances (neither refundable, nor credited, nor transferred to a later date).

AT ANY TIME FOR ANY RESERVATION

The cancellation policy applies to any downward modification of an existing reservation, late arrival or early departure.

CASE OF FORCE MAJEURE

In the event that the Coop de l'Arrière-Pays has to close its facilities due to circumstances beyond its control, refunds or credits will be available at the customer's discretion. Rain is not a valid reason for cancellation.


SPECIFIC INFORMATION ABOUT THE EQUIPMENT PROVIDED BY THE BACKCOUNTRY CO-OP DURING A PACKAGE OR TRAINING COURSE

All damage or breakage caused to the equipment of the Coop de l'Arrière-Pays will be cleaned or repaired at the customer's expense.

SPECIFIC INFORMATION REGARDING EQUIPMENT RENTAL

TENANT RESPONSIBILITIES

EQUIPMENT COLLECTION AND RETURN
The equipment must be picked up at the Coop de l'Arrière-Pays located in Ville-Marie.

Equipment can be picked up as soon as the store opens and must be returned no later than half an hour before closing or the following day before 10 a.m. When picking up the equipment, the renter must present photo identification (driver's license or health insurance card).

The tenant acknowledges having checked and found that the rented equipment is in good condition at the time of taking possession and undertakes to return it in the same condition and on the date indicated on the rental contract.

USE OF THE EQUIPMENT

  • The tenant possesses the skills, knowledge and experience required to carry out the activity.
  • The renter must take care of the equipment and use it responsibly. They must ensure that the equipment is kept and used in conditions that guarantee its safety.
  • The tenant must keep the rented equipment in their possession for the entire duration of the rental.
  • The tenant agrees to use the mandatory safety equipment provided by the Coop de l'Arrière-Pays.
  • The tenant must return the rented equipment in the same working condition as when it was handed over.
  • The tenant agrees to notify the Coop de l'Arrière-Pays by written and signed document of any major loss, theft or damage to equipment belonging to the Coop de l'Arrière-Pays immediately after this event, describing all circumstances in which it took place, and also agrees to notify the nearest police force within the same timeframe.
  • The renter agrees to use the rented or loaned equipment and accessories with the utmost care and accepts full responsibility for any loss caused by fire, theft or any other cause and thus agrees to bear the cost of repair or replacement of equipment and accessories that have suffered loss or damage.

RECOGNITION AND ACCEPTANCE OF RISKS

  • The tenant acknowledges that the practice of the following activities involves risks (see risks inherent in the activity): cycling, kayaking, paddleboarding, canoeing, hiking, camping, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, ski-shoeing and sledding and assumes full responsibility for them.


RISKS INHERENT IN SUMMER ACTIVITIES
Cycling – Kayaking – Paddleboarding – Canoeing – Hiking – Camping

  • Drowning
  • Injury, anaphylactic shock or death due to insect bites
  • Sun-related ailments (sunburn, heatstroke, dehydration, burns, etc.)
  • Burn caused by fire, stove or fuel
  • Injury or burn caused by the use of safety equipment (bear repellent spray, distress signal kit)
  • Cold-related illnesses (hypothermia, etc.)
  • Light bulbs
  • Bruises
  • Lacerations
  • Fractures
  • Being disoriented or lost due to: poor signage, participants' inexperience, reduced visibility, etc.)
  • Injury due to falls or other movement (sprain, strain, fracture, head trauma, etc.
  • Injuries or deaths resulting from a fall, collision, or loss of control on the trails (steep slope, slippery surface, sharp turn, etc.)
  • Extension of the planned duration of the activity due to a mechanical breakdown (broken derailleur, broken chain, defective brake, puncture, etc.)
  • Injury, fall, collision, loss of control or death caused by obstacles on the course (trees, rocks, roots, barriers, stairs, etc.)
  • Injuries caused by a blunt or sharp object (branches, rocks, gears, sticks, etc.)
  • Injuries or deaths resulting from accidental contact with other users (pedestrians, cyclists, etc.) or a car
  • Medical complication caused by stress or fear
  • Work capacity lower than what is required by the task
  • Inability to complete the course or certain sections of the course
  • Fear, injury or death caused by an encounter with wild animals

RISKS INHERENT IN WINTER ACTIVITIES
Fat biking, ski touring, cross-country skiing, Nordic skiing, snowshoeing, sledding, winter camping

  • Sun-related illnesses (sunburn, heatstroke, dehydration, snow blindness, etc.);
  • Cold-related illnesses (hypothermia, frostbite, etc.);
  • Light bulbs;
  • Bruises;
  • Lacerations;
  • Fractures;
  • Cold-related illnesses (hypothermia, frostbite, etc.);
  • Being disoriented or lost due to: poor signage, inexperience of participants, reduced visibility, etc.);
  • Injury due to falls or other movement (sprain, strain, fracture, head trauma, etc.);
  • Injuries or deaths resulting from a fall, collision, loss of control on the trails (steep slope, slippery surface, sharp turn, etc.).
  • Extension of the planned duration of the activity due to a mechanical breakdown (broken derailleur, broken chain, defective brake, puncture, broken ski binding, etc.);
  • Injury, fall, collision, loss of control or death caused by obstacles on the course (trees, rocks, roots, barriers, stairs, etc.);
  • Injuries with a blunt or sharp object (branch, rocks, gear, ski blade, poles, etc.);
  • Injuries or deaths resulting from accidental contact with other users (pedestrians, cyclists, skiers, etc.) or a car;
  • Medical complication caused by stress or fear;
  • Drowning following movement on an unsafe body of water or river (ice thickness and quality);
  • Work capacity lower than what is required by the task;
  • Inability to complete the course or certain sections of the course.
  • Wild Animal Encounter

BREAKAGE, LOSS OR THEFT
If a piece of equipment is returned damaged (broken or excessively worn), the renter's credit card will be charged for repairs estimated by the Coop de l'Arrière-Pays equipment manager. If the item is too damaged to be repaired, the renter's credit card will be charged for the full replacement value of the damaged equipment.
In the event of loss or theft of any equipment, the renter agrees to cover the cost of replacing the equipment at its new value. This amount will be charged to the renter's credit card.
The tenant is responsible for the infrastructure or equipment during the rental period.

DELAY
The tenant will have to pay late fees according to the rate established for the usual duration of the equipment.

PENALTIES
A tenant who fails or refuses to pay any amount due loses the privilege of renting equipment for as long as the debt remains unpaid.

RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE BACKCOUNTRY CO-OP
  • Provide clean equipment, in good working order and in accordance with practice.
  • Provide the mandatory safety equipment related to the activity being carried out.
  • The following procedure will be implemented if the tenant does not return their rented equipment according to the established schedule:
    • 4 hours late: 1st contact by telephone at the tenant's number.
    • 1 day late: 2nd contact by telephone on the tenant's number and contact with the person identified to be contacted in case of emergency.
    • 2 days late without contact with the tenant and the person to contact in case of emergency, contact with the police.

SPECIFIC INFORMATION FOR BAGGAGE TRANSPORT AND ROAD SHUTTLE SERVICES

  • Luggage transported at the owner's risk
THE FOLLOWING ITEMS ARE TRANSPORTED AT THE CUSTOMER'S ENTIRE RESPONSIBILITY (NOT INSURED IN CASE OF BREAKAGE OR LOSS)
  • Fragile items (antiques, works of art, etc.)
  • Electronic equipment (computer, tablet, etc.)
  • Valuable item (credit card, money, jewelry, etc.)
LOST OR DAMAGED LUGGAGE

All lost or damaged luggage must be reported to our company as soon as possible after discovery. An incident report must be filed within 24 hours for any lost or damaged luggage. Searches for reported lost luggage will be conducted for a maximum of 30 days. Claims for lost or damaged luggage must be submitted in writing or by email to our customer service department within 30 days of the incident. Claims must include a description of the damage or missing item with supporting photos and an estimate for repair or replacement.

Drug, Alcohol and Behavior Policy

Anyone under the influence of alcohol or drugs will not be allowed to participate in the activity.

Before and during activities, it is forbidden to consume, possess, or be under the influence of any drugs, illicit substances, or medications (prescription or non-prescription). Being under the influence of alcohol is also prohibited. Furthermore, no aggressive behavior will be tolerated during the activity.

Any breach of these rules could result in the expulsion of a participant without prior notice, and without the possibility of a refund.
